Secondary Cataract and Glaucoma Surgeries
Our optometrists perform Laser surgical procedures at our Cheyenne clinic to eliminate secondary cataracts (membrane opacifications) and to treat glaucoma.
Following cataract surgery, 30-50% of individuals develop a thin membrane on the back of their implanted lens. This causes blurry vision and increased glare. To resolve this condition we recommend a YAG Capsulotomy. This in-office procedure uses a laser to open the membrane and release tension on the lens capsule by using a beam of light called a Laser (See Image). This low risk procedure typically takes less than a few minutes.
Open Angle Glaucoma is a chronic, progressive, and irreversible optic neuropathy that occurs from elevated eye pressure. As first line treatment we recommend a selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). This in-office procedure uses a laser to treat a meshwork that increase the ability to drain fluid inside the eye.
